Stormy Skies is a framed print by Auckland, NZ artist Irina Velman.
Irina is a New Zealand artist of Russian origin. She travelled a lot and finally settled down in Waitakere, West Auckland. It is a very special place where the nature is beautiful and powerful, people are friendly and creative, the art community is flourishing. You simply can’t run out of inspiration here!
Art has been a lifetime journey for Irina: her hobby, passion, escape, source of happiness and now her profession.
Her painting process is simple: She spends time at the beach, in the forest, in the garden, admiring the beauty and taking a lot of photos of the same place from different angles. She saves the photos in her computer and starts working on composition and colour palette. The goal is to create the image that looks like a work of art, not like a photograph. The subject itself doesn’t matter.
Irina's art is known for its distinctive style and vibrant colours. Her favourite colours are red, orange and yellow, hues of sunshine and fire, warm, passionate and expressive.
As a painter, Irina considers herself influenced by Paul Gauguin, Maryanne North and Russian traditional decorative art.
This beautiful big print measures 60 x 40cm, and is framed behind glass. The frame has a metallic finish. Final measurements are 63cm x 43cm (24 3/4' x 17').
It's a beautiful print that draws you in time after time, and a wonderful reflection of New Zealand's natural beauty.
